Joe Taylor, MA, MFT
For thirty years, Joe has helped "Kids and Couples" as he likes to say. He loves to work with couples who are experiencing challenges in their marriage or relationship. Joe freely admits that his bias is to help the married couple find ways to make their marriage work. He teaches good communication skills, ways to learn and meet the needs of your mate, and takes the couple on a journey to look back at the family you grew up in as a way to understand how you now function in your marriage. When appropriate, Joe helps you utilize your spirituality as a means to strengthen yourself and your relationship.
He also has developed a specialty helping parents manage the behavior of their children as well as working directly with children and teens. He has consulted and taught classes for parent organizations, churches and schools. Since 2002, he has been working with children who have ADD/ADHD, Autism, Pervasive Developmental Disorders, and Sensory Processing deficits as well as children who just need positive and consistent parenting.
Joe earned a Master of Arts in Education in 1979, and a second Master of Arts in Marriage, Family and Child Counseling in 1997. In 2003, Joe completed training with the University of California, Davis Child CAARE Unit as a therapist-trainer for Parent Child Interaction Therapy.
Joe and Cheryl, his wife of 38 years have raised two daughters and have five grandchildren. Joe’s family roots are in Butte County. He and Cheryl moved to Chico in 2001. His hobby is tinkering with his 1963 Dodge convertible.
Joe is a licensed Marriage Family Therapist (CA #MFC46406). He is the founder of Chico Creek Counseling, located in downtown Chico, California.
Jaclin Brugnano, MS, MFT
Jacqui has been a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist for over 16 years. Although her specialty is working with infants and toddlers, she has spent many years working with school age children and teens. She is well recognized throughout Butte County as a leader in improving the lives of children and their families.
Jacqui has taught classes for managing children’s behaviors to daycare providers, preschool and elementary school teachers. Consulting with teachers regarding children’s mental health issues and how they affect their behaviors has proven to be rewarding for her and highly beneficial to the classroom setting.
In addition to working with children with issues of impulsivity, anger, depression, and various behaviors that affect their life functioning, through play and family therapy, and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), Jacqui also works with adults and couples.
Jacqui earned her Masters of Science in Counseling through California State University at Fullerton in 1990. She moved to Chico nearly 10 years ago and was the Clinical Director of Parent Education Network. She is currently the Program Director for Children and Family Counseling at Youth for Change. She has also consulted on children’s mental health issues for Head Start and Valley Oak Children’s Services.
Having been born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Jacqui is a fluent Spanish speaker. She has two teens of her own that are well liked by peers and adults alike. For fun, she likes to sing, dance and play tambourine with local bands.
Jacqui is proud to be part of Chico Creek Counseling with Joe Taylor, MFT. And to supervise qualified and experienced MFT Interns. (Jaclin Brugnano - CA #MFC30537)
